外部审计师作为独立第三者对本组织进行审计，他们可以向内部审计师提供其所掌握和了解的潜在被审计对象的相关情况，这对于内部审计目标的确立和修订、具体审计对象的选择，审计日程安排的优化是非常有益的。

外部审计师的工作范畴参照他们的职业标准，他们应对审计程序执行情况及为评价年度财务报告而搜集的证据的充分性负责。
