工程师戒指

1913年，大桥的设计建造重新开始，可历史并没有给人以血的教训。1916年9月，由于某个支撑点的材料指标不到位，悲剧再一次重演。这一次是中间最长的桥身突然塌陷，造成10名工人死亡。1917年，在经历了两次惨痛的悲剧后，大桥终于建成通车，成为迄今为止最长的悬臂跨度大桥。1922年，加拿大七大工程学院出钱将倒塌过程中的所有残骸一并买下，决定把这些钢条打造成一枚枚戒指，发给之后的工程学院毕业生。由于当时技术的限制，那些钢条并没能被打造成戒指，于是学院重新寻找新的钢材代替。为了铭记这次事故，也为了纪念事故中的死难者，戒指被设计成如残骸般的扭曲形状。 加拿大：加拿大的七大工程学院，分布在全加的二十六个营，将分别举行工程师召唤仪式（The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer）。仪式中，工程学院教授，或者资深工程师，将为工程学本科毕业生佩戴工程师之戒；学生将进行工程师宣誓（Engineers Commitment），表明愿意承担工程师的无上责任，心怀对工程师职业的谦逊之心。大多数学院的工程师召唤仪式，不对公众开放，一般只邀请工程学院教授，工程师校友，及亲属参加。如今,仪式常在每年3月举行，因为3月是加拿大的工程师之月。美国：由于工程师之戒在加拿大的成功，1970年建立的工程师职责协会（Order of the Engineer），开始在工程学本科毕业生中授予工程师之戒。1970年6月4日，美国克里夫兰州立大学，在Lloyd Chancy的见证下，举行美国第一次工程师之戒授予仪式。现在，美国各州的工程师协会，将举行工程师职责领受仪式（the Obligation of the Order），表明学生以成为工程师为荣，以领受并执行工程师职责为傲。 美国版：工程师的职责（The Obligation of an Engineer）I am anmy profession I take deep pride. When needed, my skill and knowledge shall be given without reservation for the public good. In the performance of duty, and in fidelity to my profession, I shall give the utmost.

买不到的。这个戒指除非工程师本人报失不然只在或者从业的时候发一个。不会轻易给别人的。更没有地方随便买去。这个就好像是警察的警。徽，军人的肩章一样。不是你看着漂亮想买就买的

源于一件真实的事件。1907年，建造中的魁北克大桥倒塌，造成75人死亡。当时的加拿大工程学会买下了大桥的废钢材，打造成戒指，发给各大学工程学院的毕业生，作为一种职业警示。那枚戒指叫Iron Ring（铁戒），中文译成“工程师之戒”。颁发工程师之戒的仪式叫“工程师召唤仪式”。现在发的戒指是用不锈钢做的了。另外，美国后来也搞了这套仪式。
